Grinding Teeth In Sleep - What To Do?
Grinding Teeth in your sleep can be a terribly annoying issue.
It is something that usually starts during our teenage years or early adulthood, although for certain it can develop at any point in your life really. Most of today’s treatments focus around giving you a mouthguard to sleep with each and every night.
As a bruxism sufferer myself, this is far from ideal.
A mouthguard does stop the teeth grinding sleeping, but the sheer hassle of having to wear a mouthguard every night is just not enjoyable.
So what are the options if you don’t want to wear a mouthguard? How can you stop teeth grinding sleep?
Well, you could try and sleep without one by going cold turkey … but if you haven’t treated the cause of your bruxism then sadly you’re still going to suffer, and it may even feel worse as you will have adjusted to the nightguard.
You could try using one of those mouthguards that "retrains" the mouth … but in that situation, there’s still the whole hassle of having to get used to a new mouthguard, fitting it etc etc..
Finally, and what I believe to be the best option, is to be do away with the mouthguard altogether by the use of relaxation techniques - both mental and physical.
I thought it was quite a new idea but it seems it’s been around for quite some time now. And it seems it really works. Perhaps finally there is an answer to the age old question of how to stop grinding teeth.
